Saul Galpern – Nude Records
Saul owns the prestigious Independent label ‘ Nude ‘ . Famously known for starting Britpop with signings Amongst others ‘ Suede’ who went onto sell over 5 million records worldwide. Received 6 Brit nominations won the inaugural Mercury music prize had 4 no 1 albums in the UK and countless top 10 singles across the world as well as gracing the covers of about 75 magazines worldwide. Nude had other top 30 successes with Black Box Recorder ,Ultrasound, Billy Mackenzie, Geneva and Lowgold .
Publishing company Bare Tunes had Neil davidge responsible for Massive Attack Co production and co writes.
Also released the Futures Burning compilation which was a snapshot of the new scene of bands in 2005 i.e, Franz Ferdinand, Razorlight, Kaiserchiefs, libertines,bloc party etc..
More recent nude releases included.. Blood Red Shoes ,Duels, Get Well Soon.
Also manages String, film and orchestral arranger Adam Peters who has worked with many bands in the past inc banshees, mercury rev ,Bunnymen, Beth Orton, duke spirit. Currently working with Oliver Stone. (natch!)
New Publishing company Nude Music is looking for new and old artists catalogues to sign and acquire.
Saul Also Co managed with Geoff Travis- ‘The Tears ‘ a project which brought together ex suede members Bernard Butler and Brett Anderson.
Previous To Starting Nude Saul’s Experience was working at major record labels in A@R including RCA, Island, and Elektra.
Saul was involved with artists such as The Triffids , the Christians , and Julian Cope while at Island but made his reputation at Elektra where he was responsible unashamedly for discovering Simply Red who went to sell over 80 million albums worldwide.
Came down from his Native Glasgow and First entered the music biz working in retail out of a record shop selling new wave/goth records for Bonaparte in Kings x .
A label was started Human and later Kamera and was involved in signings and working with artists such as The Fall, The Au Pairs, the Slits and Modettes.
